Results for Wellington Softball 2 December


Wellington Mens Intercity
Porirua City United and Hutt City United continue their unbeaten
runafter yesterday's intercity games.  In the early game at Hataitaipark
Hutt City United scored six runs in their third turn of bat againstRoyals
and then held on allowing Royals to score one run in their seventhturn
of bat for a 6-1 victory.
 
The main game at Hataitai park was a real thriller between old
rivalsPoneke Kibirnie and Cardinals.  Cardinals took 1-nil lead
in thethird innings when Stacey Taylor came home,  Cardinals
looked tohave the game sown up going into the sixth innings but
Bobby Makris tiedthe game up for PK when he got a hit and came
home when ex-Cardinalsplayer Malcom Namana got a hit to centre
field.  The game went tothe 8th innings tie breaker with both
teams adding a run to tie the gameup at 2-2.  PK shut out Cardinals
in the top of the ninth and thenwith two outs in the bottom half
of the innings former Cardinals playerJohn Potts hit the ball
over the centre field fence to give PK 3-2win.
 
 
At Porirua park a depleted PCU team with three players away with
NZDevelopment team in Australia managed to defeat Johnsonville
5-2. 
At the Polo ground Miramar had 8-4 win over Newlands to move
into 3rdplace on the table while Kapiti continue their winning
run 14-0 win overHV Dodgers in 5 innings.
 
In the Women's competition Miramar and Te Aroha remain unbeaten
withMiramar defeating Tawa 16-0 at the Polo ground.  Te Aroha
had aclose game against Wainui running out winners 6-5.  WhileJohnsonville
had a 7-6 win over Porirua City United.  PK had areturn to form
when they shut out Hutt City United 8-0 in fiveinnings.  Saints
had their third win of the season when they leadall the way against
Newland 5-2 win.
