Wellington, Hutt Valley Men’s Intercity 
Saturday 27th Jan 2007

It was a big day for Waiarapa Giants in the Men's intercity competitionyesterday
when they had two wins to play their way into the top six thatstarts
next week.
 
In the early game at Fraser Park they shut out Royals 2-0 win
and then inthe late game defeated Porirua City United 5-4 to
assure themselves ofplace in top 6.
 
Porirua City United had earlier defeated Hutt Valley Marist 10-0
whileHutt City United had a 8-3 win over Dodgers to gain second
place in thefirst round of intercity games.
 
At Alexmoore park Cardinals had a win over Newlands 13-2 while
Miramarhad an easy victory over Johnsonville 9-1.
 
In the women's intercity competition, Wainui had two wins.  In
theearly game at Hataitai park Wainui needed only 4 innings to
defeat PonekeKilbirnie 19-1.  While they found the going a little
harder in thelate game but still managed to get passed Newlands
9-5.
 
Poneke Kilbirnie bounced back from their early defeat against
Wainui whenthey defeated Miramar 12-2 with veteran pitcher Sharee
Giles, holding theMiramar batters to only 3 hits.
 
Porirua City United handed Newlands their second loss of the
day whenthey defeated them 6-3.
 
Intercity Men Points conclusion of the first round are as follows:
Miramar 29, Hutt City United 27, Poneke Kilbrinie 26, Porirua
City United26, Giants 26, Cardinals  22, Johnsonville 15, Hutt
Valley Marist11, Royals 11, Newlands 5, HV Dodgers 4
 
Womens Points
Te Aroha 27, Saints 20, Wainui 20, Miramar 18, Porirua City United
17,Johnsonville 16, Poneke Kilbirnie 10, Newlands 8, Tawa 7,
