Sharon, ON – The Lake Simcoe Lightning kicked off the2007 season
on the wrong foot this past week dropping both games to start
offthe OCDFL season 0-2. Tuesday night the Lightning dropped
a 1-0 extra inning heartbreakerto the Scarborough Royals. The
game was a real pitching dual as the Royals AndySkelton struck
out 19 batters going the distance for the win. The Lightningsent
Rick May to the mound who lasted 4 innings in a quality start
beforegiving up the ball to newcomer Greg Garrity. Garrity making
his firstappearance of the season struck out 8 batters over 4
plus innings of work. TheLightning gave up the go ahead run in
the top of the 8th but had achance to break things open in bottom
when Marshall McCullough struck out withthe bases loaded to end
the game.

 

Thursday the Lightning traveled up Yonge Street to take on the
rivalBradford Sox. Garrity went the distance giving up 5 unearned
runs in the 5-0loss. Bradford sent Ryan Swift to the moundwho
also went the full game for the shutout.

 

The Lightning return home to the East Gwillimbury SportsComplex
Tuesday night to take on the visiting Stouffville Mennos.  TheMennons
are coming of a 7-2 win over the Newmarket Stingers. Former LightningPitcher
Jay Nesbitt makes his return to Sharonafter going 5 innings in
the win over Newmarket.

 

Also coming up on June 3rd the Lightning will beholding their
annual fundraising auction night. The auction is once again beingheld
at Shoeless Joe’s in SharonThe night will include many items
up for bids including porting ticket, autographedmemorabilia,
