Gold medal still in reach

The Australian Under 19 Women’s team, Aussie Pride, are through
to the Bronze Medal match at the VIII ISF Junior Women’s World
Championship in Enschede, Netherlands.

The Aussies got over the line against Puerto Rico 1-0 in yesterday's
play and then defeated Venezuela this morning, 3-0, to advance
through to the medal game.

In what was described as the best game played in the tournament,
Australia dominated against Venezuela in the batting box from
the start of the game, hitting the ball hard at every turn at
bat.

Kaia Parnaby pitched the win for Australia conceding only one
hit in the seventh innings of play.

Monica Gray was the top hitter for the game getting two hits
and batting in two runners to help Australia secure the win.

Nicole Deegenaars scored Australia’s first run in the bottom
of the second innings. Brooke Spence and Ashleigh Deen came home
with the help of their team mates in the bottom of the sixth
innings to increase their lead.

Aussie Pride will take on Japan tonight in the Bronze Medal game
at 7.00pm (AEST), with the loser taking home the Bronze Medal.

The winner will meet the USA in the Gold Medal game at 10.00pm
(AEST).
