July 6-8
Denmark, WI

The Circle Tap Fastpitch team had another up and down weekend
going
2-2(19-9 overall) and dropping out of our own tournament in the
quarter-finals in heartbreaking fashion two years in a row. The
crowds
were very nice Friday and Saturday, weather reached into the
90's and was
very humid and sunny. Full team minus Paul Algar who has yet
to be
cleared to play and Darren Derricks still on the DL.
Overall, a very successful weekend with loads of great comments
from the
teams that say they look forward to this tournament each year.
We try to
get as many top level teams as possible from as many regions
so that teams
get to see some new competition and friends that they might see
on teams
from out of their area. It's truely an honor to have this many
quality
teams want to come back year in and year out and enjoy the big
tournament
feel. It has a WT feel as scores from other diamonds are updated
over the
PA and hearing the crowd gasp or clap as scores are released.

Here are the CT results:

on a fielder's choice. CT made a pitching change in the bottom
of the 5th

hit, after a
pair of strikeouts Saldana hit a routine ball that went through

10AM Sunday

#8Circle Tap 7 #13Portland DeMarini(Portland, OR) 8
PD 8 8 0 2
CT 7 9 0 5
I'd have to say this one was one of the more heart-breaking games
in front
of our home crowd, we had the lead, fell behind, exploded for
a lead and
then gave it all away. Give a real good Portland credit for an
exciting
game for all to see.
CT took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd as Steve Schucker
drew a one
out walk and Tim Jorgensen followed with a two run shot. After
3 perfect
innings Portland came alive in the 4th as Brian Ree led off with
a base
hit and with two out Todd Garcia singled and Rob Gehrke followed
with a
2RBI double off the center field wall. It remained a 2-2 game
until the
top of the 6th as Chris Waverick hit a one out solo shot. In
the bottom
half the CT offense came unglued. With two out, Jorgensen picked
up a base
hit, Tom Crouch and Kyle VanAbel picked up infield hits and then
Bryan
Hansen smashed a 3RBI triple down the 3rd base line. Kyle Magnusson
then
blasted a two run shot for a 7-3 CT lead. Portland, however,
was not
done. With one out Rod Rainey crushed a solo shot making it 7-4.

Following a strike out for out number two, the 9 hitter Reich
singles,
Brian Ree singles. Jesse Duncan takes two balls and then a pitching
change is made and McKenzie comes on to pitch. Duncan walks and
then
Chris Waverick smashes his 2nd home run of the game, this time
a grand
slam for an 8-7 lead. CT would get two runners on with no one
out but was
unable to score.
Jorgensen 2x4 HR, Crouch 2x3 2B, Hansen 2x3 3B

The Circle Tap team will now head to Aurora, IL for the AFSA
Classic with
an abbreviated team for the weekend. 9PM Fridayand 11 and 1 on
Saturday.
