Owen Sound Fastball Sponsorship

Owen Sound Volkswagen has committed to be the primary sponsor
of both the Owen Sound Junior Fastball club and the Owen Sound
Midget fastball team.
The clubs will be known as the Owen Sound Volkswagen Junior Selects
and the Owen Sound Volkswagen Midget Selects respectively.
The Volkswagen support is spearheaded by Bill Brick of Owen Sound
Volkswagen.
Brick, who is currently the C.E.O. & Chairman of the Board of
Reddi Ice Company in the United States, has had a highly successful
business career after leaving Owen Sound and maintains an interest,
along with his 3 brothers in Owen Sound Volkswagen.
Among his business stops, Brick has been in upper management
with the Sun Newspaper chain, the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian
Football League, and Palm Dairies to name a few.
He views this sponsorship as " remembering his roots " having
been a young ball player in Owen Sound under the direction of
the late Lloyd Simpson.
Lloyd Simpson's son, Bill, is the President of the Selects and
is overjoyed at the financial support for the organization.
With the financial details established, Simpson and his staff
can concentrate on fastball issues which will include a vastly
expanded schedule for the Junior team.
The Owen Sound Juniors will compete in the Bluewater Fastball
League, in the I.S.C. Eastern Canada Travel League and will also
travel into the United States for heightened competition.
The Volkswagen Junior Selects will also host the 2008 Canadian
Junior Men's Fastball Championship tournament August 3rd to the
10th at Duncan McLellan Park in Owen Sound.
Simpson admits the Selects team that will host the 2008 National
Junior Championship will be very youthful.
His goal is to develop a strong program and potentially host
the National Junior tournament again; maybe as early as 2010.
