SeniorWomen’s National Team captures opening game of Pro Tour
5-0

(Chicago,IL) – The Canadian Senior Women’s National Softball
team started off the ProTour on the right foot last night, as
the squad defeated the Chicago Bandits bya score of 5-0 at Judson
University Sports Complex in Elgin, IL. 

Inthe first inning of the well-deserved victory, second baseman,
Jennifer Yee(North Delta, BC) singled to center field, allowing
her teammate MelanieMatthews (Surrey, BC) to secure the first
run of the night. Robin Mackin(Newmarket, ON) ran a tight ship
from the pitcher’s plate, allowing only onehit and no runs from
the Bandits in two innings and a third of work.

Althoughneither team was able to score in the second or third
inning, tempo picked upin the top of the fourth when Sheena Lawrick
(Calgary, AB), who notched tworuns on the evening, singled and
was eventually brought home on a hit bycatcher, Kaleigh Rafter
(Guelph, ON). The 2-0 lead was maintained by pitcherDanielle
Lawrie (Langley, BC), who replaced Mackin in the bottom of the
thirdand proved to be unrelenting. 

Canadaopened up the fifth inning with a homerun by Yee and continued
on the righttrack with Alison Bradley (Pinkerton, ON) and Lawrick
scoring on a Bandits’error.  

TheSenior Women’s National Team, led by Head Coach Lori Sippel,
staved off eagerChicago batters and ultimately seized the 5-0
win after seven innings of play.

Lawrie,who pitched for the majority of the night, managed two
hits and eightstrikeouts for 16 official at bats. Mackin kept
seven batters at bay, offeringonly one hit and registering three
strikeouts. 

Theteam is set to take on the Bandits for the second time on
Saturday, June 14,2008 at 7:05 p.m. CDT.

L’équipe nationale senior féminine remporte unpremier gain lors
de la tournée professionnelle

(Chicago,IL) – L’équipe nationale de softball senior féminine
du Canada a commencé satournée professionnelle du bon pied hier
soir, alors que la formation asurclassé les Bandits de Chicago
par la marque de 5 à 0 au complexe sportif del’Université Judson
à Elgin, IL.

Lorsde la première manche de la victoire bien méritée, la joueuse
de deuxième butJennifer Yee (North Delta, C-B) a cogné un simple
au champ centre, permettant àsa coéquipière Melanie Matthews
(Surrey, C-B) de croiser le marbre pour lepremier point de la
rencontre. Robin Mackin (Newmarket, ON) a été étincelantede la
plaque des lanceuses, n’accordant qu’un seul coup sûr et aucun
point auxBandits dans deux manches et un tiers de travail.

Aprèsque les deux équipes n’ont pas été capables de marquer en
deuxième ou troisièmemanche, le rythme s’est accéléré en début
de quatrième lorsque Sheena Lawrick(Calgary, AB), qui a croisé
le marbre à deux reprises dans la soirée, a frappéun simple et
a éventuellement croisé le marbre sur un coup sûr de la receveuseKaleigh
Raftr (Guelph, ON). L’avance de 2 à 0 a été maintenue par la
lanceuseDanielle Lawrie (Langley, C-B), qui a remplacé Mackin
en fin de troisième et acontinué le beau travail.

LeCanada a ouvert la cinquième manche avec un coup circuit de
Yee et l’attaque acontinué sur le bon chemin lorsqu’Alison Bradley
(Pinkerton, ON) et Lawrick ontmarqué sur une erreur des Bandits.
L’équipe nationale senior féminine, dirigéepar l’entraîneuse
chef Lori Sippel, a été capable de limiter l’attaque deChicago
et a finalement remporté la partie 5 à 0 après sept manches de
jeu.

Lawrie,qui a lancée la majorité de la soirée (quatre manches
et deux tiers), n’aaccordé que deux coups sûrs en retirant huit
frappeuses sur des prises, alorsque 18 frappeuses se sont présentées
au bâton. Mackin a retiré sept frappeuses,n’accordant qu’un coup
sûr avec trois retraits sur des prises.

L’équipeest prête à affronter les Bandits pour la deuxième fois
aujourd’hui, le 14 juinà 19:05 heure centrale.
