GAME SUMMARIES

Championship Final: Durham defeated Monroe 3-0

What had the makings of a pitchers duel from the start did not
disappoint.
Danielle Smith went the distance for the Lords while her counterpart
Lindsey
Grace (2008 All-American) did the same for Monroe. In the sixth
inning with
the game scoreless, the Tribunes threatened, but were unable
to capitalize,
stranding runners on second and third. The Lords were able to
take
advantage, as they touched up Grace for three runs, one earned
in the bottom
of the inning. That is all the Lords would need as Smith closed
the door in
the seventh to pick up the victory over the Tribunes. Smith picked
up the
win, Grace the loss. Danielle Smith was named Tournament Top
pitcher as she
picked up two wins without allowing a run. Lords infielder Erin
Dewey was
named the Tournament Most Valuable Player.

Consolation Game: Mohawk defeated Seneca 6-3

The Mohawk Mountaineers scored early and coasted the rest of
the way to pick
up the victory in the consolation match-up. Mohawk scored three
runs in the
first and two in the second, and that was all starting pitcher
Jenny
Koschanow needed to pick up the win. The Mountaineers were led
offensively
by Jenna Pletzer who had three RBI’s and a run scored. The
Sting bats were
silent for most of the game, except for a three run fourth inning.
Leading
the way for the Sting was Erin Belanger who had two doubles,
two RBI’s and a
run scored. Ashley Evelyn was on the losing end of the decision
for Seneca.

Round Robin: Monroe defeated Seneca 14-1

The Monroe Tribunes went on a scoring spree to book themselves
a place in
the finals. The Tribunes plated 10 runs in the first two innings
as they
sent eight batters to the plate in each of the innings. Monroe
was lead by
Amanda Prouty who went 3-for-3 and three runs scored. Shortstop
Amy Nowak
chipped in an RBI triple helping pitcher Ashley Hall pick up
the victory.
Seneca was led by pitcher Karen Pilkington who contributed two
singles
despite taking the loss. The lone Seneca run was driven in by
Megan Oliver.

Round Robin: Durham defeated Mohawk 6-0

Pitcher Karie Neddo paced the Lords to yet another shutout as
the Lords
stamped their ticket to the tournament final. Once again the
Lords offensive
was an all around effort, with Erin Dewey, Erica Dewey, Shannon
Ferguson,
Danielle Smith and Neddo contributing hits and runs batted in.
Jessica
Roloson took the loss for the Mountaineers.
