                                                           The
league defending champions , the North Stars , continue their
domination of all opponents . Monday night in Azilda at the Rick
McDonald Memorial Park , site of this year's bantam boys U-15
softball/fast pitch Ontario Summer Games , the North Stars defeated
the Garson Hounds 12-2 for their eight strait victory and a 10
point lead on the rest of the pack . Once again John Ainslie
now 7-0 started and gave way to Bruce MacDonald (0-0) in the
fourth frame once the North Stars were up 5-1. Ainslie gave up
but one earned run on four hits while fanning 2 Hounds and not
issuing a single base on balls. Reliever MacDonald (first innings
pitched of the season) gave up one earned run on 3 hits , struck
out one batter and issued two base on balls. Gary Lamothe (0-2)
, in his second full outing of the present campaign suffered
his second consecutive loss of the season , giving up 12 runs
on 12 hits while fanning four North Stars and issuing three base
on balls. Veteran Dwight Beers led the way for the winners going
2 for 3 at the dish (double, home run, run scored , 3 runs batted
in ) while teammate Pitou Paquette hit a perfect 2 for 2 (double,
run scored , 2 runs batted in). Newcomer , Shane Bene , hit 1
for 2 (run scored ,base on balls) in a losing cause for the Hounds.
Due to unforeseen circumstances the doubleheader scheduled originally
for Whitefish Lake First Nation on Wednesday night has been cancelled
and will be rescheduled at a later date. League action now resumes
on Thursday night June the 24th in Garson at the Lorne Brady
Memorial Park when the struggling Whitefish Lake First Nation
Steelers take on the Garson Hounds at 7 PM followed by the nightcap
at 9 PM under the lights when the surging Parry Island Hawks
face the Pickerel River Cardinals.
