Durham hammers Seneca in their season opener – Rematch on Thursday
at DC

Women’s Fastball: Durham defeated Seneca 19-0
*Home Opener on Thursday night at 6/8 p.m. vs. Seneca (DH)

TORONTO – The Durham College women’s fastball team was unstoppable
in their OCAA regular season debut as they shutout the Seneca
Sting 19-0 in North York on Tuesday night.

The DC bats were on fire as they scored 19 runs on 16 hits in
four innings of play.

“It was a great start for the team,” said Durham head coach Jim
Nemish. “Everyone in the lineup got to play and we really hammered
the ball. We also made some great defensive plays throughout
the game.”

The Dewey sisters each went 3-for-4 at the plate, while combining
for seven runs and 11 RBI’s. Erica tied the OCAA record for most
RBI’s in a game with six, including a grand slam in the top of
the third inning to put the Lords up by 19. She added one more
home run to her totals while Erin had one home run.

Sam Roelofsen, Janna Hagan, Nicole McCoy and Kayla MacLean all
went 2-for-3 at the plate.

MacLean pitched the complete game for Durham allowing only four
hits and recording three strikeouts.

Seneca will now travel to Durham on Thursday night for the Lords
home opener. The doubleheader at Durham Field begins at 6 p.m.
