The Gee-Gee Women’s fastball team finished an exhausting weekend
of six games with a 3-3 record facing some of their strongest
competition. Friday night the Gee-Gee’s played the Carleton Ravens
for a double header out in Orleans. To raise awareness for Mental
Health, the Gee-Gee squad wore purple shirts for both games.
The Gee-Gees came out strong to defeat the Ravens in five innings
of play; with a final score of ? Jill started the game; however,
suffered an injury after the first pitch which resulted in Jean
having to enter the game in the second inning. Gee-Gees came
out strong on the bats with another win to finish off the night
with two wins. Final score of the second game was ? Early Saturday
morning the ladies ran a camp for kids and worked on improving
their softball skills. Following the sports camp, the Gee-Gees
hosted Laurier in Orleans for a double header. These two games
concluded in frustrating losses for the ladies. After recovering
for the night the Gee-Gees hosted Waterloo for their two concluding
games of the weekend. With a strong start to finish, the ladies
were able to hold Waterloo’s talented batters to only 3 runs.
All bats were on fire scoring 7 runs which allowed them to walk
off with the win. The second game was a very close game which
resulted in a loss for the ladies but overall a very well played
game of ball. Defence and offence are beginning to come together
for the Gee-Gees which is allowing for only a bright season ahead
and an even stronger playoff finish.
