Get Girls On The Move!  $2,000 Grants available from CAAWS!
TORONTO, ON - Softball Ontario wants to encourage local Softball
Associations to apply for one of ten (10) On The Move incentive grants
from the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sports
(CAAWS)!  CAAWS, with support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, is
offering incentive grants to Ontario-based organizations interested in
increasing physical activity and sport participation among girls and
young women (ages 9-18).

Ten incentive grants of $2,000 are available. Funding can be used to
cover a variety of expenses related to developing and delivering the
proposed project, including staff time, instructor fees, training,
facilities, equipment, transportation, child care, admission or
registration fees, administration, and/or promotion and communication.
Projects must comply with CAAWS' On the Move Concept and Top 10 Success
Factors. Projects must be completed by June 15, 2013. Final reports
must be submitted by July 15, 2013.

Examples of ideas for your On The Move incentive grant application:
  * Hold a series of "Try Softball" Days for girls to help boost your
    registration
  * Offer a free fall Try Softball or Active Softball Session at your
    local schools
  * Host a CANpitch Clinic for new players to introduce them to
    pitching
  * Partner with a local school to offer an After-School Softball
    Program
  * Host a U12 Colour Your Dreams Clinic for new players

CAAWS will provide on-going support to successful projects, including
templates for measuring and reporting on outcomes and project
activities. On the Move Champions are available in every region to
offer additional support and will be connected with successful
applicants.

On the Move is CAAWS’ national initiative to increase opportunities for
inactive girls and young women (ages 9-18) to participate in physical
activity and sport. The On the Move Concept advocates for the creation
of fun-filled, supportive, female-only, recreational sport and physical
activity programs designed to increase girls’ self-esteem, build their
skills, and create a foundation for life-long active living.
