Armour-Rise Fastpitch Langhorne, PA
For 2004, the
Rise will be playing in the Mid-Atlantic Fastpitch Travel League (MAFTL).
The league is currently looking to operate with 10 teams, 2 divisions of 5
each. We are using a different format for the league this year, playing
round-robin games within each division with the top two teams from each
division advancing to the final play-off for each weekend. Depending on
how each team fares the 1st weekend will seed them accordingly for the 2nd
travel league dates, with the same format being used to seed for the 3rd
weekend. Prize money will given out for each of the 3 travel weekends.
The Rise made
some off-season player acquisitions to add to their depth. Former Quaker
Riversharks pitcher Scot Adams should again prove to be a workhorse in
the circle. The duo of Adams and Vogel should keep the Rise on the winning
side. Patrolling CF will be Bart Fenstermacher ( Can-Am Windmillers),
whose premier defense and exploding offense will keep opponents on their
toes. IF Brad Klopp (TNT So. Lebanon) is a sure-handed veteran who will
see time at SS, 1st, and 3B. Left-handed hitting Rich Greaver ( Marlyland
Masters) will also add depth to the IF. OF Chad Walters (Shorty's) and
Brad Getz (TNT So. Lebanon) come to the Rise with good credentials and
should prove valuable to the over-all mix. IF Chris LaCava (KMV Concrete)
will fill a utility role at 1B, DH, and pitcher. Chris is also supporting
the Rise with some valuable sponorship activities. Altough not confirmed
at this time, former Early Printing manager Mike Lindsay is looking to
return to the fastball scene in a coaching position, and talks with him
on joining the ranks are ongoing.
