Greater Ottawa Fastball League finals set

[OTTAWA, ON] – The Greater Ottawa Fastball League (www.GOFL.ca) best-of-finals will have a new look in 2009, as the defending champions Stittsville, ON 56ers (#1) will match up against the Quyon, QC COMBAT Flyers (#3).

This will be the first year since 2002 that Ottawa Team Easton has not played in the league finals, as they were playoff champions five consecutive years from 2003-2007 and finalists in 2008. Team Easton (#2) lost in the fifth and deciding game on Weds Sep 16 against the Flyers, in a series in which the road team won every game.

Game 1: Quyon 4 – Easton 1 (WP: Drew Hathway, LP: Brad Porter)
Game 2: Easton 2 – Quyon 1 (WP: Corey Costello, LP: Hathway)
Game 3: Quyon 1 – Easton 0 (WP: Hathway, LP: Porter)
Game 4: Easton 2 – Quyon 0 (WP: Costello, LP: Joran Graham, relief Hathway)
Game 5: Quyon 8 – Easton 3 in 9 innings. (WP: Hathway, LP: Porter in relief of Costello)

Stittsville swept Manotick Lomor Printers (#4) three games straight, making it five wins in a row in the playoffs, to reach the finals and defend their title.

Game 1: Stittsville 8 – Manotick 2 (WP: Dan Bradley, LP: Trevor Lahey, relief Tony Riches)
Game 2: Stittsville 12 – Manotick 5 (WP: Bradley in relief of Darren Featherstone, LP: Lahey, relief Riches)
Game 3: Stittsville 9 – Manotick 0 (WP: Bradley, LP: Lahey)
