Greater Ottawa Fastball League to grow to 9 teams in

OTTAWA, ON-The Greater Ottawa Fastball League held its organization meeting last night (Jan 24/07) and it looks like there will be nine teams in the GOFL for the 2007 season for the eastern Ontario based intermediate fastball league.

The six teams from the 2006 season have all indicated they will be returning, and three teams have confirmed that they wish to join the GOFL this summer, including the first entry from Quebec.

1) Ottawa, ON Team Easton – 4 time returning champions
2) Stittsville, ON 56ers
3) Fitzroy Harbour, ON West Carleton Electric
4) Manotick, ON Lomor Printers
5) Carp, ON I4C Victory
6) Ottawa, ON Blitz
7) Quyon, QC Flyers – NEW – Junior team, moving from Ottawa RA
Fastball League
8) Orleans, ON Gators – NEW – Junior team, moving from Ottawa
RA Fastball League
9) Ottawa, ON Valley Raiders – Champions the last 4 years in
the Ottawa RA Fastball League

The 12 weeks of regular season play will start the week of May 7 and end the week of July 23. Teams will play an unbalanced schedule of 20 games, which will include 2 games at a League
“Showcase Weekend”. Quyon offered to host the Showcase Weekend at their home diamond in West Quebec, tentatively scheduled for the first weekend in June.

The GOFL also decided on entering the ISC II Home League Program and has informed the ISC that the league is willing to send a team or teams to Eastern Ontario Challenge Cup in August 2007.
