\nNiagara-on-the-Lake, ON<\/p>\n

The Niagara Snappers opened their ISC season with back to back double
\nheaders vs the Kitchener Hallman Twins. Here is a summary of the 4 games
\nplayed over the passed weekend. Complete game reports will be released
\nweekly on Al’s by ISC Statistician, Sue Sherry.<\/p>\n

Here are the results from the Saturday double header in Niagara.<\/p>\n

Game # 1
\nNiagara Snappers 5
\nKitchener Twins 3
\nWP: Dan Duemo (1-0)
\nLP: Todd Martin (0-1)
\nNiagara opened the season in fine fashion with a 5-3 win over Twins in the
\nopening game of the double header. Dan Duemo went 7 strong innings earning
\nthe win. Kitchener starter, Todd Martin pitched 7 innings taking the loss.
\nNiagara Snappers Scott Young and Jarrod Burtt homered to pace the Snappers
\nto the victory.<\/p>\n

Game # 2
\nKitchener Twins 5
\nNiagara Snappers 3
\nWP: Todd Martin (1-1), in relief of Jeremy deBelleval.
\nLP: Perry Bartley (0-1)
\nIn the second game, The Twins came from behind for the 5-3 win. Todd Martin
\nin relief of Jeremy DeBelleval, grabbed the win. Perry Bartley took the
\nloss giving up two in the seventh with the game tied at 3. A strong start
\nby Niagara’s Byron Demoe was followed by 2 solid innings of relief by Mike
\nBateman. Byron Demoe homered in the loss for Niagara.<\/p>\n

Here are the results from the Sunday double header in Kitchener.<\/p>\n

Game # 3
\nNiagara Snappers 6
\nKitchener Twins 3
\nWP: Andy Jackson (1-0)
\nLP: Donny Scott (0-1)
\nThe Snappers were down 3-1 going in to the top of the seventh. Twins
\nstarter, Donny Scott was dominating early on, recording the first 9 outs of
\nthe game all via the strikeout. The Snappers showed some character by not
\ngetting down and Andy Jackson was stingy, keeping the game close and giving
\nthe Snappers a chance. Todd Dawdy lead off the 7th with a solo HR to trim
\nthe lead to 3-2. Three consecutive singles loaded the bases for Kevin
\nNewhouse. On a 1-2 pitch Newhouse belted a grand slam deep to CF. That put
\nNiagara ahead for good as Jackson finished strong for the win.<\/p>\n

Game # 4
\nNiagara Snappers 7
\nKitchener Twins 5
\nWP: Dan Duemo (2-0)
\nSave: Rob Fawcett (1)
\nLP: Dan Stebbings (0-1)<\/p>\n

Niagara jumped out to an early 5-0 lead only to see the Twins battle back
\nand make a game of it.<\/p>\n

The Snappers open the ISC league with an impressive 3-1 record. All in all,
\na very surprising result considering this was Niagara’s first taste of top
\nlevel play. Going in to this weekend we were hoping to take 1 game from the
\nTwins. Winning 3 of the 4 games will boost the confidence of the team to
\nsay the least. The weekend was not all positive as the Snappers lost the
\nservices of lead off hitter and starting catcher Trevor Falk. Falk injured
\na knee during the first at bat in the first game of the weekend while
\nattempting to beat out an infield ground ball. At this time, it is unknown
\nwhen Trevor will return to the lineup.<\/p>\n

Next up for the Snappers are games #9 and #10 of the ISC travel league
\nschedule as they take on the Palermo Athletics at Memorial park in NOTL.
\nStart time for the first game is 7:15pm.<\/p>\n
