JRW & Associates Finishes Third at Rich Rice Memorial<\/p>\n
Wenatchee, WA \u00ad ISC II 25th ranked JRW & Associates of Yakima, WA won four
\nstraight games at the Rich Rice Memorial tournament this past Memorial Day
\nweekend in Wenatchee, but the team\u2019s opening game extra inning loss kept
\n it
\nfrom advancing from the Gold Division to the championship game.<\/p>\n
JRW & Associates finished tied for third overall at the two-day tourney with
\na 4-1 record.<\/p>\n

\nJRW rallied from seven runs down by scoring 10 runs in the last three
\ninnings; A 4 run T7 highlighted by 2 RBI singles by Don Cawthron and Tim
\nFischer gave JRW its second victory of the day.<\/p>\n

\nDrotzmann bested former JRW pitcher Barry Tate (ME) who was elected into the
\nNorth Central Wash Softball Hall of Fame Saturday. Tate\u2019s catcher, John
\n“Dewey” Bleichner (ME), was the catcher on the first JRW team to go to a
\nNational tournament \u00ad 1979 18 & Under ASA Nationals in Billings, Montana.<\/p>\n

Rookie 21 year old Pitcher (MB) Jason Grow, on loan from JRW & Associates,
\nsuffered the loss, but did induce his father, catcher Troy Grow (JRW), to
\nground into a double play.<\/p>\n

Dean Waltier (JRW) suffered an Achilles injury in JRW\u2019s second game in a
\nrun-down. Dean is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks.<\/p>\n
In the Purple Division, ISC II (Unranked \u00adWhy not) NW Merchants of Lacey,
\n WA rode the pitching of British Columbians Sam Aldridge (NWM) and Dan Juricic
\n(NWM) to a 4-1 record in the Purple Division which advanced them to the
\nChampionship game. The Merchants defeated Country Insurance of Lynden, WA in
\nthe Championship game. In Country\u2019s second game, pitcher Dan Groves (CI)
\nsuffered a calf injury which took him out the tournament. P Stan Thiessen
\n(CI) tired by the championship game and the NW Merchants had a 17-3 lead by
\nthe 5th inning. Trevor Knight (NWM) tossed the win for the Merchants.<\/p>\n
