The Circle Tap Lumberjacks completed the first weekend of the Wisconsin
\nClassic League with a 4-1 record.<\/p>\n
Our first game was Friday night against The Bar of Appleton. After Gerad Long
\nof The Bar held the Lumberjacks scoreless through six innings, the Lumberjacks
\nscored three runs in the seventh on two walks and two errors by The Bar to
\ntake a 3-2 victory. Dave Miller was the winning pitcher and Scott Bortolini
\npitched the seventh for the save.<\/p>\n
The second game was against Earl’s Club of Kenosha. After spotting Earl’s to
\nan early six run lead, the Lumberjacks scored three in the second, one in the
\nthird, two in the fifth, and one in the bottom of the seventh to take the
\nvictory. Dave Engelbert earned the win with five scoreless innings in relief
\nof Scott Bortolini. Tim Jorgenson, Shawn Krueger, and Luke Goral each had two
\nRBI’s in the game.<\/p>\n
Our third game was against PJ’s Log Jam. Again after PJ’s took an early 2-0
\nlead, the Lumberjacks gained the 5-2 victory by scoring one in the fifth, and
\ntwo in the sixth and seventh. Dave Miller earned his second win of the
\nweekend in relief of Dave Engelbert. Chris Timm had a two RBI triple to spark
\nthe Lumberjacks.<\/p>\n
The fourth game of the weekend was against The Bar of Appleton. The
\nLumberjacks started early in this one, scoring two in the first and three in
\nthe third to take a 5-3 lead into the fifth. The Lumberjacks then scored five
\nin the fifth to take the 10-3 victory by the mercy rule. Scott Bortolini
\nearned the victory on the mound. Tim Jorgenson had five RBI’s with two
\ndoubles and a single.<\/p>\n
The fifth game was aginst Earl’s Club. Earl’s Club jumped out to an early 7-0
\nlead. But the Lumberjack again came back with two in the fifth and four in
\nthe seventh. However, the tying run was thrown out at the plate to give
\nEarl’s Club the victory. Dave Miller took the loss on the mound. Jeff
\nHauschel and Chris Timm each had two hits and an RBI.<\/p>\n
Our last game of the weekend against PJ’s Log Jam was rained out on Sunday.
\nThis will be made up during the second weekend of Classic League play.<\/p>\n
The Lumberjacks (4-1) will be in action again at the ISC State Tournament in
\nDenmark on June 10-12 and in Classic League play on July 1-3.<\/p>\n
