The City of Charlottetown has been named host city of the 2014 Senior Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship.
“We are very excited to be working closely with Softball Canada once again,” said Mayor Clifford Lee. “Our success in securing the hosting rights to such prestigious national championship reinforces our capacity to host major sport events. Events such as this one offer enhance tourism, economic development, investment in infrastructure, while providing an opportunity to showcase what our great city has to offer.”
The Senior Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship will bring together some of the best men’s softball athletes in Canada. Attracting over 200 participants, along with fans from across the country, the week-long event will be held from Aug. 26 to 31, 2014, with all competition play taking place at Central Field Complex.
Mike Branchaud, manager of Canadian Championships for Softball Canada, noted that Charlottetown has “a great volunteer base, an experienced hosting committee, an outstanding venue, and a very good senior men’s team,” which will be key factors for the 2014 event.
Charlottetown previously hosted the event in 2010.
