10 TEAMS TO COMPETE IN 36th RICE LAKE AQUAFEST INVITATIONAL MEN’S FASTPITCH TOURNAMENT
Five teams from Wisconsin and five from Minnesota make up the roster of teams for the 36th Rice Lake Invitational Men’s Fastpitch Tournament to be held June 13-15, once again in conjunction with the city’s annual Aquafest celebration.
Absent from the field is defending champion Wilber Lime of Galesville, eight time tournament titlist, who ceased operations after capturing the North American Fastpitch Association “AA” championship in play at Des Moines, Iowa last August.
Wisconsin entries include the Rice Lake Orangemen, the only team to have played in all 35 previous events, along with the La Crosse Athletics, Saw Dust City of Eau Claire, J.R. Sports of Arcadia, and defending Wisconsin state “A” division champion Bol’s Lanes of Baldwin.
Gopher State ball clubs include Tin Cup, Morelli’s, and Len’s Automotive, all of St. Paul, Ostrander, and Harley-Davidson of Rochester.
Play begins Friday evening at 8:00 at Bob Curtis Field with the host team Orangemen facing Sawdust City.
Play resumes Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Bob Curtis Field with Bol’s Lanes meeting Len’s Automotive. At the same time at Tolly Steinert Field Morelli’s and J.R. Sports square off.
At 11:45 a.m. at Curtis Field at the Orangemen-Sawdust City survivor confronts Ostrander while at Steinert Field, same time, the La Crosse Athletics will take on Harley Davidson.
At 1:30, Curtis, the Bol’s Lanes-Len’s Automotive winner will do battle with Tin Cup.
Play continues Saturday afternoon and evening and resumes Sunday at 9:00 a.m., with all of the action taking place on the Tate Park complex. The first championship game is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 2:00 on the Curtis diamond with the second game, if necessary, to start at 3:30.
