Thanks to JR Williamson for this report
JRW & Associates were 1-3 in the Upper Division of the 54th Seattle Fastpitch Invite at Dacca Park in Fife, WA. The three losses were to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers of the tournament.
Our win was in our first game, 1-0 over Southern Oregon Bandits. Their pitcher, Bricklyn Anderson had 17 K’s. In the 7th, the Bandits got the lead runner to 3rd base, but JRW’s ace Joey Robbins struck out the side to preserve the victory, allowing just one bunt single.
The first loss was to the very strong CR Brewers of Portland, ORE. JRW’s Rick Unrau had his repertoire of pitches working to perfection. The 2-0 loss to former USA National team pitcher Rick Smith was rationalized as good as a win.
The first game apparently took a lot out of P Joey Robbins as he couldn’t keep his signature drop out of the dirt against World # 7 California A’s. He and Rick U surrendered 13 runs in a 6 inning loss. This came against a trio of talent – USA Mens National team pitcher Josh Johnson, USA Junior Mens National Team Catcher Tyler Bouley and Canada Mens National Team Derek Mayson at 1B. Derek hit a line drive to the CF fence so hard that it sling shot back 15 feet.
Sunday morning, Sisko Sabate, pitcher for the Argentina Mens National Team, tossed a no-hitter at us. The sixth and seventh runs came in the 5th when USA National Mens Team Player Pat Sagdal hit a 2 run homer. Before that, Pat laid down a bunt that stopped 10 inches from home plate and was immediately picked up by catcher Jason Scheibner who has a great arm. To no avail, Pat was already safe at 1B.
These JRW players got hits off of the OPEN class pitchers:
OF Aaron Fischer, a double and the only hit off Cali A’s pitcher Josh Johnson.
3B Sean McCauley had a double plus Father Larry McCauley (C) and CF Cody Wagner had singles off Bricklyn Anderson. DH Troy Grow and LF Tony Cox and 2B Shane Jones had singles off Rick Smith.
Cleon’s Auto of Tacoma took 2nd, losing to the California A’s 8-1 in the final. Cleon’s Beat JRW & Associates7-0 and the Portland Brewers 5-4 in the two previous games of the day. Cal A’s beat Sooke 3-1 to advance to the finals.

My hat goes off to JRW & Associates, as well as K-Club Pirates and Southern Oregon Bandits for jumping to the Open Division this year to give their guys a look at playing against some very quality Open Division Teams. Minus the score keeping software issues it was a great 54th Seattle Invitational @Fife…already looking forward to 2015!
