The New York Gremlins put an exclamation mark on their remarkable 2023 season, winning three straight games on the final day of the ISC World Tournament to capture the ISC World Title Saturday night at Denmark, Wisconsin.
Following a Thursday night loss to #4 ranked Bear Creek Express in the Winner’s Bracket Semi-final, the Gremlins were faced with four consecutive “must win” games to win the ISC World Tournament. That loss snapped a 32 game win streak that started back in June, when the Gremlins lost their season opener to the same Bear Creek Express.
On Saturday, August 19, the New York Gremlins beat #3 ranked Hill United Chiefs, 14-2, #2 ranked Niagara Stompers 8-5 and the Bear Creek Express, 6-1.

Game 66 – NY Gremlins 4, JB California 1
The Gremlins first must-win game came on Friday against #6 ranked JB of Agoura California. JB staked their ace, Argentine ace Romon Godoy to a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Cesar Rodriguez.
But that proved to be the only run that JB would score against the Gremlins’ Australian pitching sensation, Jack Besgrove. Singles by Zenon Winters and Cole Evans and a fielders choice by Brian Avery tied the game at one in the bottom of the fourth. The big blow in the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning when the Gremlins’ Ben Enoka hit a towering two run homer to left field following a single by Jerome Raemaki. New York added an insurance run in the sixth inning, when Ladislao Malarczuk singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Jack Besgrove with the distance, tossing a four hitter, while striking out 16 and walking none. When the gremlins turned in on Friday night they did so knowing that they would need three straight wins on Championship Saturday to capture the ISC world title. Their opponents, if they could continued to win, would include the #3 ranked Hill United Chiefs, the #2 ranked Niagara Stompers, and the #4 ranked Bear Creek Express, which had won the winners bracket final on Friday night.

Ben Enoka Drives in Eight as Gremlins Defeats Hill United Chiefs
Ben Enoka would not be denied at the plate when runners were on base on Saturday, driving in eight on three hits to lead Gremlins past Hill United Chiefs 14-2 on Saturday. Enoka drove in runs on a single in the first, a 3-run home run in the second, and a grand slam in the fourth. The eight RBI established a new ISC world tournament record for RBIs in one game.
Gremlins fired up the offense in the first inning, when Enoka singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Gremlins put up six runs in the fourth inning. Ladislao Malarczuk, Jerome Raemaki, and Enoka powered the big inning with RBIs.
Jack Besgrove was the winning pitcher for Gremlins. The ace went four innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out four.
Michal Holobradek took the loss for Hill United Chiefs. The hurler allowed seven hits and six runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one.
Gremlins socked three home runs on the day. Cole Evans went deep in the second inning. Enoka had a homer in the second and fourth innings.
Gremlins racked up 14 hits on the day. Enoka, Erick Ochoa, Mathieu Roy, Malarczuk, and Evans all managed multiple hits for Gremlins. Enoka went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Gremlins in hits. Gremlins didn’t commit a single error in the field. Nick Mullins had the most chances in the field with four.
Hill United Chiefs didn’t commit a single error in the field. Josh McGovern had six chances in the field, the most on the team.

Game 69 – NY Gremlins 8, Niagara Stompers 5
Ochoa Helps New York Gremlins Slug Their Way to Victory against the Niagara Stompers
Eric Ochoa hit two home runs and drove in three as the New York Gremlins defeated the Niagara Stompers 8 to 5 on Saturday. Ochoa homered in the fourth and fifth innings.
The New York Gremlins got on the board in the first inning after Mathieu Roy drew a walk, scoring on a wild pitch.
A home run by centerfield by Blaine Milheim gave the Niagara Stompers the lead, 2-1 in the bottom of the first.
The Niagara Stompers added another run in the second inning after Teo Migliavacca singled home Pita Rona, for a 3-1 Stompers lead.
The New York Gremlins took the lead 5-3 in the top of the fourth thanks to home runs by Eric Ochoa Cole Evans and Ladislao Malarczuk.
The Gremlins scored two more runs in the top of the fifth inning on a home run to left field by Eric Ochoa.
Wayne Lalu hit a solo home run to centerfield in the top of the sixth for the Gremlins while Marshall Kronk hit a solo homer to centerfield in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Stompers.
The Niagara Stompers scored one run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a solo home run to centerfield by Blaine Milheim, his second of the game. .
Andrew Kirkpatrick earned the win for the New York Gremlins. The left-hander allowed eight hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking none.
Hueml Mata started in the circle for the Niagara Stompers but pitched just 2 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking three.
The New York Gremlins showed great patience at the plate, thus collecting seven walks for the game. Jerome Maki, Zenon Winters and Matthew Waugh led the team with two walks each.
Niagra Stompers totaled nine hits in the game. Pita Rona, Teo Migliavacca, and Milheim all managed multiple hits for Niagra Stompers. Milheim, Migliavacca, and Rona each managed two hits to lead Niagra Stompers. Niagra Stompers was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Juan Cruz Zara had the most chances in the field with eight.
Ochoa went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Gremlins in hits. Gremlins didn’t commit a single error in the field. Nick Mullins had six chances in the field, the most on the team.

NY Gremlins Defeat Bear Creek Express Behind Strong Performance from Jack Besgrove
Jack Besgrove was dominant in the circle is the Gremlins starting pitcher running up 12 strikeouts in the Gremlins 6-1 victory over Bear Creek Express on Saturday. Besgrove allowed six hits and one run over seven innings while walking none.
A solo home run to right field by Jordan Pomeroy put Bear Creek Express on the board in the bottom of the first. (The home run marked the second in consecutive at bats by Pomeroy off of Besgrove, as he had homered on Thursday night in the winners bracket semifinal to break a 3-3 tie in the 7th inning of that game)
Cole Evans homered to left field for the New York Gremlins to tie the game at one in the top of the fourth.
The turning point in the game came in the top of the fifth inning, when Bear Creek Express replaced starter Sean Cleary with reliever Justin Schofield. It was not to be the night for Schofield, as he struggled with control, walking four batters in the fifth inning, (three in a a row), leading to a four-run outburst for the Gremlins in which they took a 5-1 lead which they never surrendered. The fateful fifth started on a double by New York’s Ladisloa Malarczuk, followed by three consecutive walks to Nick Mullins, Mathieu Roy, and Jerome Raemaki followed by a single by Ben Enoka. Another walk was issued to Zenon Winters. Two passed balls produced two more Gremlins runs and a 5-1 margin.
Jerome Raemaki, who walked his first three trips to the plate, put an exclamation mark on the win for New York with a towering the solo home run to right field in the top of the seventh for the Gremlins for the 6-1 final score.
Justin Schofield took the loss for the Bear Creek express, tossing three innings, allowing five runs on three hits, striking out five and walking for work. Starter Sean clearing gave up two hits and one run over four innings, striking out five and walking two.
CE, BP, JR, LM, and EO each had hits for the New York Gremlins. JR paced the Gremlins with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game.
Jason Hill, Bear Creek expresses number eight hitter, led the team with two hits in three at-bats.
Jack Besgrove was the winning pitcher for Gremlins. The hurler surrendered one run on five hits over seven innings, striking out 12 and walking one.
Justin Schofield took the loss for Bear Creek. The hurler allowed three hits and five runs over three innings, striking out five.
Sean Cleary started the game for Bear Creek. The bulldog surrendered one run on two hits over four innings, striking out five
Bear Creek smacked one home run on the day. Pomeroy had a four bagger in the first inning.
Jason Hill went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Bear Creek in hits. Bear Creek didn’t commit a single error in the field. Ryan Boland had ten chances in the field, the most on the team.
