HILL UNITED CHIEFS beat the Toronto Batmen 5-0 on Friday in an Elimination Contest on the tournament’s penultimate day of play. The win for the Chiefs was a big one, as it came following last night’s heartbreaking loss in the Winner’s Bracket Semi-finals to the NE Drillers. The Chiefs had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the 7th only to have the Drillers rally for two in the bottom of the inning and the win.
A home run to center field by QUINTEN BRUCE put HILL UNITED CHIEFS on the board in the bottom of the first. TONY GONZALEZ hit a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the second for the HILL UNITED CHIEFS.
ROMAN GODOY earned the win for HILL UNITED CHIEFS. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking one. Ty Sebastien took the loss for Batmen. The starter went two innings, giving up four runs on three hits, striking out none and walking three. BRUCE drove the middle of the lineup, leading HILL UNITED CHIEFS with three runs batted in. The left fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. ALAN PEKER, BRADLEY EZEKIEL, GONZALEZ, BRUNO MOTRONI, LUCHI BIONDI, BRUCE, and KYLE EZEKIEL each collected one hit for HILL UNITED CHIEFS.
HILL UNITED CHIEFS were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. GONZALEZ had the most chances in the field with 10. Sebastien led Batmen with two hits in three at bats. Batmen didn’t commit a single error in the field. Ike Whetstone had the most chances in the field with six.
