Softball Canada will induct five new members to its hall of fame, including three Nova Scotians.
Windsor’s Tim Macumber, Todd King of Halifax and Middle Musquodoboit’s Tom Doucette will join builders Bill Barron of St. John’s, N.L., and Fredericton’s Bob Stanton at the Softball Nova Scotia induction ceremony, Nov. 12 in Halifax.
The 41-year-old Macumber won gold medals at the 1992 Canadian junior championship and the 1996 Canadian senior championship, as well as three silver medals (1998, 2007 and 2009) and a bronze (2002) at the senior level. He also won Pan Am Games gold in 2003.
King, who’s also 41, was MVP and the top hitter at the 1993 Canadian senior championship. He also represented the Canadian senior national team from 1995 to 2000 and twice won gold at the Pan Am Games in 1995 and 1999.
The 63-year-old Doucette coached Nova Scotia at four Canada Summer Games, leading the 1993 boys’ team to a silver medal. He’s been head coach of the national junior team since 2005 and will lead them through the 2013 ISF junior world championship in Parana, Argentina.
