DOUBLE LIFE: The top two teams in each pool – Australia, USA, Argentina and Japan have two “life’s” going into playoffs. (Can lose a game and are still alive in the tournament)
The third and fourth place teams from each pool – New Zealand, Denmark, Canada and Mexico enter with only one ” life.”
That said, the “double life teams” first games are against each other.
