It is rare to find one person to whom a sweeping societal change can be attributed. Business, health, education, the law, sports … all of these fields change over time. Many people contribute to the transitions and often the change is incremental.
Joe Drach gets credit, or blame if one is so inclined, for the shift of men’s softball in Northeastern Pennsylvania from fast-pitch to slow-pitch. He won’t claim that mantle himself, but it is there as sure as a strike is a strike and a ball is a ball.
Drach was so good as a fast-pitch hurler that the Northeastern Pennsylvania’s men’s fast-pitch softball sport was abandoned in favor of slow-pitch. Click here to continue reading at the Citizens Voice.
