The California A’s hung on to defeat the Bloomington Stix today, 6-5, despite a three run rally by Bloomington in the seventh inning. The game ended with runners at the corners when Derek Mayson recorded the final out. The loss eliminated Bloomington while California will advance to a 2 PM game Friday against the winner of another losers bracket contest, between the Toronto Gators and Pennsylvania Power, a game that will be live video streamed on the ISC Network for viewers around the world, free of charge.
Kevin Castillo once again powered the offense for the California squad, with another home run, and three RBI. It was Castillo’s 4th home run in the past three days, with 8 RBI in the tournament. Castillo is now batting .375 in the tournament.
Derek Mayson also homered again, is second of the tournament. Josh Johnson picked up the win going 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on five hits while striking out five. Mayson is now batting an eye-popping .467 in the tournament.
Marcus Tan also had two hits, scored two runs and drove in one. The hits boosted Tan’s tournament average to a sizzling .474.
