In our story about the “Breeder/Rupp” Tournament held in Long Beach last weekend, to honor Dave Blackburn (“Breeder”) and Ronnie Rupp, who suffered serious injuries in an auto accident in August, we noted that Ronnie Rupp was headed back to the hospital for surgery on cancerous kidney cells. To say that Ronnie has had a rough go of things in 2010 is a bit of an understatement, but he’s kept his chin up and has continued to battle, much as he’s done in the pitching circle for so many years. (and of course, in his good natured, tongue-in-cheek verbal sparring with friend and fellow pitcher Gerald Pyle).
Ronnie tell me that he’s “going a few more rounds with Mr. Pain”, not pleasant, but that he’ll get through it and the doctor’s post surgery prognosis is good. He sends his thanks to all of his fastpitch friends who have sent along their words of encouragement. You can send him an email to yourfastpitchfriends (at) fastpitchwest.com, or post via a comment to this blog post below.
