Featuring Ty Stofflet, Jimmy Moore and Kevin Tantlinger
As part of the “new and improved” Fastpitchwest for 2011, we have added a “Media” section, part of which will be devoted to housing old issues of fastpitch publications, Ray Anderson’s “Fastpitch Bulletin” (1970-80’s), and Bob Tomlinson’s “Fastpitch Chronicles” (1980-1990’s). Sort of a “Library of Congress” for men’s fastpitch. We wrote a bit about the project here, posting links to three issues from 1984.
Today, we added the September 1986 issue of the Fastpitch Bulletin. (click link)
Here is an alternate link for the Sept 1986 issue via Google Docs. Let me know which works better for you on your computer (email me, jim (at) fastpitchwest.com.
This September 1986 issue features a story on the legendary Ty Stofflet and his record breaking 45th win at the ASA Majors, and another about Seattle Pay ‘n Pak pitcher Jimmy Moore who won both the ISC World Tournament and ASA Major MVPitcher awards, while leading his team to titles at both.
And for So Cal readers, on page 9 you’ll spot a photo of the late Kevin Tantlinger, a friend and former teammate of mine.
The PDF file is fairly large, so give it time to load.
Hope you enjoy this one, more to follow. In the future, you’ll find the back issues of the Fastpitch Bulletin and Fastpitch Chronicle under “Media/Newspapers” on the main menu at the top of the page. (To use the new “drop-down” menus, just “mouse over” the menu and the sub-sections back pages will drop down.) The “drop down” menus make all pages of Fastpitchwest available to readers from the front page — or any other.
Steve Betts says
How many in the 50+ have been the MVP in Nafa East or West and MVP in the ASA? Check 2007 and if you say Nick McCurry you are wrong.
