Maddy’s AAU Photos – Gallery 3

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Click the camera above to view Gallery 3.

If this gallery feels like deja vu, you’re right — the first 11 photos appeared in the original Gallery 1 on Monday night, which sorted out of order. The second half of this gallery contains brand new pictures, including a good one of CPI player/manager Mike Cutro.

At this year’s AAU, Mike’s squad made it all the way to Sunday and the Final Four, falling to eventual champion Mac’s Sprayers. CPI finished in a third place tie with Broken Bow, NE, a remarkable run for an ISC II team, or any team for that matter, competing against some of the top ISC World tournament teams and players. On Saturday night, before one of the largest crowds of the tournament, CPI played eliminated former two-time-AAU champion Los Socios of Venezuela, to advance to the Final Four, where they eliminated a very solid Chicago/NY team from the Dominican Republic. Pitcher Shaun Winship, who hit a walk-off home run in the ISC II playoffs, Winship again played a key role in CPI’s success this year at the AAU. Their strong run at Orlando will no doubt have the ranking committee for the ISC II taking note, something the fans back in Oswego have been doing for some time.

Gallery 3 also includes some early tournament shots of this year’s Champions, Mac’s Sprayers, including a shot of pitcher Rob O’Brien, one-quarter of the four-headed pitching monster that shared the Most Valuable Pitcher’s Trophy.

There are also a couple of Salt Lake City’s Cody Thompson, who pitched for Ohio Battery at this year’s AAU.

Another pitcher in Orlando from out west was Robby Epps, in uniform here for Los Socios of Venezuela.

Gallery 3 also has a couple good ones of one of the games best pitchers, Frank Cox, with the Broken Bow Gremlins, along with skipper Steve Kooser, shown here enjoying the sunny portion of this year’s tournament.

Introducing Ashland OH Stockpack

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

Ashland STOCKPACK (formerly the Ashland Merchants) have completed a successful off season overhaul that involved much more than just a name change. We have added five seasoned players to an already strong core of players in hopes of making a serious run at the ISC II title in Appleton this August. Leading the new additions is pitcher Tyron McKinney. Many will remember Ty from his exploits as a young gun with the Ashland Coors Light team before he played for multiple season with the Midland Explorers, followed by a season with Ashland MVD Sports. ISC II Special Operating Rules for 2008

Friday, February 8th, 2008

[February 8, 2008]- The International Softball Congress is announcing special operating rules for the 2008 season for the ISC II division regarding the pickup of pitchers from the Canada East region during the season.

For the 2008 season, following the completion of the Canada East qualifiers on June 22, teams from outside the Canada East region may sign one (1) pitcher from the Canada East region provided that they remain in compliance with the ISC II out-of-region (OOR) rules which limit teams to a total of three (3) OOR players, only two (2) of whom can be pitchers. The signing deadline is July 21, 2008. Fees and completed forms must be mailed to ISC Executive Director Ken Hackmeister as of that date.

Out-of-Region (OOR) player registration must follow these procedures:

1. A completed and signed copy of the ISC Letter of Intent to Play OOR (available at
http://www.iscfastpitch.com/uploads/File/2006_OOR_Form.xls) must be mailed to Ken Hackmeister with a postmark no later than July 21, 2008 and must include the $100 US fee.

2. Teams must notify ISC II VP Jim Williamson (jrwilliamson(at)foodfacility.com) and Canada East VP Blair Setford (blairjs(at)rogers.com) of any OOR signing by July 21, 2008.

3. Final rosters for all ToC teams are due via email on Monday August 4 using the ISC registration form available at
http://www.iscfastpitch.com/uploads/File/Team_Reg_roster_2007.xls. All OOR players and pick-ups should be highlighted.

If there are any questions about the 2008 Special Operating rules or additional clarification is needed, please contact either ISC II VP Jim Williamson (jrwilliamson(at)foodfacility.com) or Canada East VP Blair Setford (blairjs(at)rogers.com).
