Portland’s Old Growth Begins Play at ASA 50 & Over Nat’ls

Yakima, Washington – Portland’s Old Growth team will begin play in the ASA 50 & Over Nationals in Prescott, Arizona on Friday July 7th.

Old Growth was runner-up in the 50-OVER NAFA Masters in Carson City in early October last year. The champion was Prescott Badger Roofing, this year’s # 1 seed for this ASA National.

Old Growth Manager Bob Rider of Portland has assembled a good hitting group of players from Seattle and Portland. But he reached to the southern tip of Oregon for his pitching staff. Ageless Mike Trotter of Eagle Point, OR and Morgan Mapes of Medford, OR will be counted on to minimize the opposition’s bats.

Mike Trotter has thrown no lower than the ASA Class A level for 6 decades. Morgan Mapes pitched for Global Pacific, runner-up in the ASA Class “C” Nationals in Stockton last year. In Portland on June 25, Morgan pitched his team to the Northwest Class “B” Regional title.

Northwest Old Growth’s first game will be on Friday night July 7th, 6 PM against Galpin Ford. Galpin Ford is one of two host teams to be representing Prescott in this tournament.
