Press-Gazette

KIMBERLY — Circle Tap of Denmark went 1-2 on Saturday and was eliminated from the Jack Grafmeier men’s fastpitch softball tournament.

Townline of Green Bay, meanwhile, went 1-1, including beating perennial powerhouse The Farm of Madison 6-5. Josh Johnson homered for Townline, which outhit The Farm 12-5. James Darby was the winning pitcher.

Townline earlier lost 9-4 to MinnDak Millers of Fargo (N.D.). Green Bay also played Thomson Area Merchants of Thomson, Ill. The result of that game was unavailable.

Circle Tap (10-4 overall), which won its game Friday, began Saturday by beating Plangger’s Furniture of Benton Harbor, Mich., 6-0. Collin McKenzie threw a five-hitter with 18 strikeouts, and Steve Schucker and Tim Jorgensen homered.

But McKenzie took the loss in relief — despite striking out eight — in Circle Tap’s 3-2 loss to Dolan and Murphy of Aurora, Ill., in eight innings. Schucker had a single and double.

McKenzie gave up just four hits and fanned 12 but took the loss in a 2-1, eight-inning setback to the Bloomington (Ill.) Stix.

The Bar of Green Bay lost to Plangger’s Furniture 6-3 and was eliminated after losing 3-0 to Dolan & Murphy of Aurora, Ill., earlier in the day
