Wisconsin – Circle Tap, Townline fall in semifinals at Liberty tourney

ELKHART, Iowa — Circle Tap of Denmark and Townline of Green Bay lost in the semifinal round on Sunday in the Liberty Bank Invitational men’s fastpitch softball tournament.

Circle Tap beat Albaugh of Elkhart 6-2 in the quarterfinals. Matt Bramwell threw a seven-hitter with nine strikeouts, Kyle Magnuson hit a two-run home run, Tom Crouch hit a solo homer and Steve Schucker had a two-run triple.

In the semifinals, the Minndak Millers of Moorhead, Minn., edged Circle Tap 4-3. Collin McKenzie took the loss and Schucker homered.

Townline blanked the Pueblo (Colo.) Bandits 8-0 in the quarterfinals as James Darby threw a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and Jon Zipperer hit a two-run homer.

In the semifinals, the Quad City Sox of Davenport, Iowa, beat Townline 8-6. Betto Guerrinieri took the loss and Nick Shailes hit a three-run homer.

On Saturday, Townline beat the Thompson Merchants 19-3 and Albaugh 6-3 and lost 10-5 to Minndak. In its late Saturday game, Circle Tap beat Pueblo 9-3.

Both Circle Tap and Townline will be playing in the Townline Shootout at Howard Memorial Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
