Saturday, March 15
SOX GO 3-0 IN 8-5 COMEBACK WIN

The Long Beach Black Sox scored 2 in the 5th and 3 in the 6th to win a come from behind game 8-5. Primetime scored 4 in the first knocking out Randy Clay as Ron Rupp relieved. In the second the Sox answered as Chris Minogue doubled and Dave Demaio tripled him in. Chris Hunt followed with a long 2 run homerun to deep right center. In the 5th with the Sox trailing 5-3 Tim Hunt reached on an error and stole second. Andy Martinez hit a clutch 2 run double and Fred Hanker followed with a game tying single making the score 5-5. In the Sox 6th Dave Demaio walked and Chris had an infield single. Ron Rupp sacrificed them over. Jeremy Rooney followed with a single to center and the other un scored on a fielders choice. Ron Rupp would finish the game and get the win in relief. The Sox finish 3-0 and are the # 2 seed and play at 11:30 against Primetime. Fred Hanker was 2-3 with 2 doubles and a RBI. Dave Demaio was 2-2 with 2 runs and a RBI. Chris Hunt was 2-3 with 2 runs and a 2 run HR. Jeremy Rooney chipped in with a 1-3 with 2 RBI including the game winning RBI. Ron Rupp allowed only one run and struckout 8 in relief.

SOX SCORE RECORD 21 RUNS AS PHILLIPS GOES 2-2
Lee Phillips accomplished something no ever Sox Player had done as he went 2-2 getting hits from the left side and the right side of the plate in one inning. Phillips got his first Sox hit ever in his first at bat. He would drive in 3 runs also. The Sox slammed 19 hits as Dave Blackburn allowed 1 run and struckout 7 in the win. Every player reached base at least once. The Sox scored 7 in the first and 4 in the second and 10 in the third also a team record for most runs in an inning. Tim Hunt was 1-1 with a home run and 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Andy Martinez was 2-2 with 3 runs. Fred Hanker was 1-1. Chris Minogue was 3-3 with 3 runs scored. Chris Hunt was 3-3 with 4 RBI. Jeremy Rooney was 3-3 with 3 runs and 2 doubles and a triple and 3 RBI. Bob Aguilar was 2-2 with 2 runs and 3 RBI. Nathan Hanker had 2 walks and a run. Dave Hanker tallied his first hit of 2008 with a single in the first hitting for Fred Hanker. The game was called after 3 innings due to the run rule. The Sox now play at 4:00 against Primetime.

PHILLIPS WINS FIRST GAME AS SOX MANAGER IN 9-4 WIN

Lee Phillips took over for Dale Lopes in his first game ever as The Long Beach Black Sox manager replacing the missing Dale Lopes. Phillips took over the reins and was very impressive in the 9-4 win. Ron Rupp went the distance for the victory his first of 2008. The Sox would tally 3 in the first inning when Tin Hunt singled as did Andy Martinez. Fred Hanker followed with a 3 run home run down the left field line making the score 3-0. The Sox tacked on 3 more in the second when Jeremy Rooney singled as did Tin Hunt who also stole second. Andy Martinez reached on an error scoring two. Fred Hanker followed with a run scoring triple making the score 6-0. The Panteras scored 1 in the 3rd and 4th. In the Sox 3rd Ron Rupp singled and Jeremy Rooney tripled him home. Rooney later scored on an RBI groundout. In the 4th Tim Hunt reached on an error and scored on a wild pitch. Tim Hunt went 2-3 with 3 runs scored. Andy Martinez added 2 runs and Fred Hanker was 2-2 with a triple and homerun and 4 RBI. Jeremy Rooney in his Sox debut was 2-3 with 2 runs and a RBI triple. Ron Rupp struckout 6 and walked one allowing 4 runs. The Sox now play at 2:00 versus the Rez Runners.
