Host team Killeen still battling in men’s fast pitch state tournament

As of press time, Killeen was still alive in the Texas Amateur Softball Association 2008 Men’s Fast Pitch State Championship.
Killeen was 3-1 on Saturday in the double-elimination tournament before it took on the loser of the Geo-Per/San Antonio Titans game. The game was scheduled for 10:30 p.m.
In its first game of the day, Killeen beat the Austin Jokers in a tight 4-3 game, and then fell to the Manor Dirtbags in a 2-1 heartbreaker. After moving over to the loser’s bracket, the host team won two straight – 13-1 over the Houston Dynamo and 16-0 over the Austin Indians.
Ryan Norman and Cody Davis each had two homers for Killeen on the day while Mike Cruz chipped in with one roundtripper. Mark Teapole pitched several innings, including a four-inning, one-run complete game against the Dynamo.
The championship game will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Killeen Athletic Center on Field No. 4.
