Eau Claire, WI

The Circle Tap Fastpitch team ventured to Eau Claire, WI to take part in
the 38th annual Classic tournament.  CT put up 4 wins and a loss to stake
claim to a 3rd place finish.  Overall record now stands at 28-2.  This
weekend was the first with all players available including the first
appearance of one Peter Meredith.

Game 1 Pool Play

This game was very important not only because it was a pool play game but
it also doubled as a travel league game makeup due to the monotonous rain
in May. CT now 6-0 in league play with this win.  This game was scoreless
until the bottom of 3 when Adam LaLonde smashed a solo home run off the
scoreboard in center field.  It remained that way until the bottom of 6.
With one out Don Garvey picked up a base hit, after a strike out Jess
Ellestad drew a walk and then Garvey scored on a Todd Malnory double.
Robbie O'Brien earned the win striking out 15 and yielding one hit. Rob
Scheller, Peter Meredith, and Dewey Dyck got some pinch running action in
as they appeared in their first ISC travel league game.

Peter Meredith got the ball in this one in his first pitching action with
Circle Tap and looked impressive throwing the two hit 9 strikeout
performance.  CT came out of the blocks scoring 4 quick ones in the 1st.
Adam LaLonde led off with a triple followed by a Chris Miljavac home run.
With two out, Kevin Reichardt walked Darren Derricks singled and Brock
Bisick doubled both of them in.  With the score 4-0 in the 3rd, with one
out Reichardt walked and Bisick doubled him in.  In the 4th with one out
Jesse Wotruba, Adam LaLonde, Chris Miljavac and Todd Malnory each doubled
scoring the last 3 runs.  LaLonde 2x3 double, triple, Miljavac 2x3 double,
HR, Bisick 2x3 2doubles

This is the 2nd time we have seen this team this season.  It was much
easier win than the 3-2 game we had in Kimberly.  Dewey Dyck got the ball
for CT.  CT scored in the top of 1, with one out Miljavac singled and
moved to 2nd on an error, with 2 out Robbie O'Brien smashed a laser to
left and the fielder couldn't handle it, scoring Miljavac.  Kegal struck
for a run in bottom of 2 to even the score at 1.  In the top of 3 LaLonde
led off with a base hit followed by a Miljavac base hit followed by a
Chris Delarwelle base hit scoring them both, Delarwelle would score on a
Don Garvey double to make the score 4-1.  CT grabbed two more in the 4th
as Darren Derricks singled, LaLonde singled, Miljavac reaced on a FC and
then Delarwelle picked up another two RBI single making it a 6-1 game.  CT
would add another in the 5th as Garvey led off with a triple and scored on
a Tom Montgomery base hit.  CT then tossed up 7 in the seventh to grab the
14-1 win.  With one out, Montgomery singled, Bisick singled, Malnory
walked, Derricks base hit brought in two followed by a 2RBI base hit by
LaLonde.  Chris Miljavac then followed with a two run bomb, and Delarwelle
ended the scoring with a blast over center field.  LaLonde 3x5, Miljavac
3x5 4runs, HR, Delwarwelle 3x5 HR 5 RBI, Montgomery 2x4, Derricks 2x4

CT grabbed it's fourth win of the tourney agaist familiar foe The Bar.  CT
struck early again in the top of 1.  LaLonde walked swiped second and
scored on two past balls for the 1-0 lead.  In the top of 4, O'Brien
singled, Montgomery doubled and with one out Jess Ellestad picked up a 2
RBI base hit.  The Bar would push one across in the bottom half making it
4-1.  CT extended the lead in the 6th when Kevin Reichardt walked and
scored on a Darren Derricks double.  The Bar added on in the bottom of 7
to make the final 5-2.  Rob Scheller pitched 4 strong innings and got 3
innings of releif help from Meredith.  They combined for 12 K's.

This of course was a much anticipated meeting of these two teams.  This
was a very tight game with some spectacular defensive plays on the CT side
and some timely hitting on the County side.  The first of several battles
between these two high quality teams.  Robbie O'Brien got the ball for CT,
and Lucas Mata toed it up for County.  CT grabbed an early lead in the
bottom of one when Chris Miljavac tripled, Delarwelle walked and Robbie
O'Brien sac flied Miljavac in.  County answered in the 2nd with a Brad
Rona HR to even the score at 1.  It would remain that way until the top of
6, 3 walks and base hits by Joe Westfall and Thomas Makea brought in 3
runs for County.  Darren Zack came in and pitched the final two innings.
Jess Ellestad led off the bottom of 7 with a double but was stranded
ending the game.  O'Brien went 5 1/3 striking out 8, Dewey Dyck finished
out the game.

Circle Tap will next see action on Monday night (June 28) at Circle Tap.
Two Classic League rain makeups vs the Denmark Merchants are on tap.
Being a Monday night CT's roster will obviously be a little lighter.  Next
tournament will be the Boys of Summer at Circle Tap in Denmark, WI July
9-11 featuring some of the best fastpitch teams from around the country.
