Canada Falls to Chinese Taipei
(Surrey, BC) Team Canada
In an Olympic preview, Chinese Taipei squeaked out a 3-0 victory over
Canada in day two action at the 11th annual Canada Cup International
Womens Softball Tournament in Surrey, BC.
Canada threatened a number of times in the game, leaving 8 runners on base
5 in scoring position, but could not manage to score against the Chinese
Taipei Defense. Chinese Taipei took advantage of their only chance to
score in the bottom of the 6th inning on a single, a walk and a Canadian
error. Two insurance runs were later driven in with on a two out double.
We played them tough for 5 innings and need to learn from our experience
against them stated Canadian OF Alison Bradley. We just need to execute
better in key situations to beat this team.
Auburn Sigurdson pitched a complete game for Canada. She gave up 3
unearned runs on 4 hits, striking out 4 and walking 2. Alison Bradley had
two of Team Canadas hits and Angela Lichty had one.
Canada will play Chinese Taipei again in the first game of the Olympic
Games on August 14th.
