Coughlin powers A's with three RBI

ST. LOUIS - Jimmy Lee Coughlin snapped out of a season long hitting slump 
in a big way Wednesday night.

Coughlin went 2-for-2 with three RBI as he led the Alberton Arms Pub 
Athletics to a 8-1 win over the St. Louis Storm in Source for Sports Fast 
Pitch League play at the diamond in St. Louis.

Also leading the A's was Chris Avery (1-4 with a two run double), Troy 
Ellsworth (1-3 with two RBI's) and Kyle Fraser (1-3 with two runs scored, a 
walk and stolen base.)

For St. Louis, Jamie Betts (0-1 with a stolen base, run scored and a walk) 
and Shane Costain (1-2 with an RBI) powered the Storm.

Winning pitcher Mitch Hardy went six innings allowing one run on one hit, 
walking one and striking out nine. Losing pitcher Jamie Betts went two 
innings allowing four runs on three hits, two walks and fanned one batter. 
Jon Broderick pitched four innings in relief allowing four runs on nine 
hits and striking out three.

DAW SON, MACDONALD POWER HITMEN

In Abram Village Tuesday night, Matt Dawson (2-3 with a two run triple) and 
Art MacDonald (2-3 with a double, single and RBI) powered the offense as 
the Kinkora O'Sheas Pub and Eatery Hitmen stretched their win streak to 
10-0 behind the one-hit shutout by Craig Manuel by slamming the Wellington 
Arsenault Sawmill Jacks 11-0.

Wayne Stewart (2-4 with a double and RBI) and Kevin Warren (3-3 with a 
walk, RBI and double) also contributed in the win.

For Wellington, Jon McNeil (1-2) was the only hitter to get a hit off Manuel.

Manuel went five innings, walked one and fanned 10 batters en route to the 
dominating victory. Losing pitcher Shawn Gallant went three innings giving 
up seven runs on eight hits, walking three and striking out five. Jeff 
Richard pitched three innings in relief walking two and allowing four runs 
on five hits.
