Timely hitting by Union built up the lead throughout the game. Wardell was 
his steady self throughout the game, allowing only 2 hits and struck out 10 
batters.

At the begging of the bottom of the 1st inning, Bernie Pollick, OASA 
convenor presented a special plaque to Wardell in recognition of his No 
Hitter at the ISC World Tournament last year in Kimberly, WI. Wardell, an 
Owen Sound native, was applauded warmly by the home town crowd. His No 
Hitter was for KW Hallman Twins vs Saskatoon last year at the Worlds.

It was an exciting game with a lot of nail biting goings on. When Waterloo 
scored in the 5th we thought it would open up the game but was the only run 
to be scored in the game.

Jamie Baker started Peterboro off with a lead off home run, followed by a 
double by Derek Wright who was left on base.
Jarvis answered with a solo home run by Pat Graham in the B1.
In T3, Derek Wright hit a triple and Gregg Garrity brought him home with a 
single to give Peterboro a 2-1 lead. Jarvis made a pitching change to 
Andrew Phibbs in top of 4 who struck out the first two batters but then Rob 
Doncaster hit one out of the park to make it a 3-1 game for Pros. In B5, 
Pat Graham used his hot bat to hit a triple, with one out but Pros shut 
them down. Jarvis started B6 with a lead off wak but Pros dug deep to hold 
the runner on 1st. In B7 Jarvis started again with a lead batter getting a 
walk to bring Pat Graham to the plate. Pat hit to short and got the lead 
off man to 2nd.  Brad Robinson hit a hard ball but 2nd base man Derek 
Wright made a spectacular diving catch to throw him out. Gregg Garrity for 
Peterboro took batter Ryan Thompson to a full count but lost him. With 
runners on 1st and 2nd,, 2 out, Fehrman struck out to give Peterboro the 
3-1 win. Garrity threw a complete game.

Union answered with 2 on a walk and 2 doubles from Dave Ferguson and Ty 
Lessard. That was enough of a lead for Trevor Wardell who pitched a 
complete game, 5 hits, 5 Ks.

OASA Special Achievement Award:
In another nice touch of class, the OASA made a presentation to Waterloo 
pitcher, Paul Koert for his contribution to the game, notably his No Hitter 
in Kimberly WI last year at the ISC World Championship – where he defeated 
Winterset IA 7-0, with 7K. This performance was with the Owen Sound Selects.

Tied 1-1 going into the 8th and the int’l time breaker, Waterloo broke it 
open in the half of the 8th with Bill Simmons hitting a double to deep cf 
(pitcher threw it down the tube, expecting him to bunt), scored the 
eventual winning run.
Dale Levy added the insurance with a HR.

Strong pitching by Dan Skillings with 7Ks.

Bottom of the 9th, tied 1-1, runner on 3b, 1 out, Troy Rick hit a single 
and drove in the winning run for Union (Chris Wismer who had gotten on 1b 
on an error).. The 2004 Ontario Senior Champions.

This game featured a pitching duel between Jamie Simpson / Don Scott of 
Waterloo and Trevor Wardell of Union, until Union scored in B9.

Special mention to Troy Rick.

Bob Abbott and Bernie Pollock of the OASA presented the Gold medals to 
Union and the Silver medals to Waterloo and congratulated both teams for a 
fine weekend of ball. Abbott also thanked Shawn Ringell of Owen Sound and 
his hosting committee for hosting yet another great event here in Owen Sound.
