Twins split pair of games with Ont, Sask.

ALBERTON - The Source for Sports/Greco Twins got out to a two run lead and
held off a hard charging Napanee Express (Ontario) for a 5-4 win Monday
afternoon.
The round robin 2004 Consolidated Credit Union Canadian Midget Boys Fast
Pitch Championship was played at Memorial Park in Alberton.
It was the P.E.I. representative second game of the day, and avenged a 9-1
defeat to Maymont Raiders (Saskatchewan) earlier in the day.
Against Napanee, Joseph MacDougall (2-3 run scored, stolen base, three RBI)
hit the eventual winning run when he blasted a home run in the fifth
inning. He held the Express scoreless in the remaining two innings.
Also leading the Twins (2-1) was Jeremy MacKinnon (1-2, run scored), Jordan
Knox (1-3, RBI, run scored, double)and Kyle Cooke (1-2, RBI).
For the Express, who rallied from a 2-0 deficit, Nathan Moffat (2-4, run
scored, double, RBI), Dan Gehl (1-2, run scored, triple, RBI), Craig
McGarvey (1-2, RBI) and Brad Weese (1-3, run scored, RBI) were tops at the
dish.
MacDougall went the distance striking out two while giving up four runs on
eight hits and walking two.
Losing pitcher Dan Gehl went five innings allowing five runs on four hits,
walking four and striking out seven. Dan Gehl pitched one inning of one hit
ball, striking out one in relief.
NO 'LOVE' FOR TWINS
The Twins got out to a 1-0 first inning lead, but then set back as Maymont
thrower Dave Gourlay took control as the Raiders scored three runs in each
the next three of four innings to walk away with a 9-1 mercy rule win.
Leading the Saskatchewan representatives were Cody Lovenuk (3-3, two
doubles, two RBI), Colby Bierle (1-2, two runs scored), David Gourlay (1-3,
run scored, triple, RBI) and Evan Kachmarski (1-2, double, two RBI).
For the Twins, Jeremy MacKinnon (1-2) and Joseph MacDougall (1-2) were tops
at the plate. Nick Hann (0-3, run scored) was the only Twin to score.
Winning pitcher Dave Gourlay went five innings, allowing two hits, walking
two and striking out seven.
Losing pitcher Neil Arnold went 4.3 innings, allowing seven runs on five
hits, walking four and fanning four. Neil Arsenault pitched .7 innings
giving up two runs on two hits, and striking out one.
