Smith claims 'Player of the Week' honours

KINKORA - A huge week at the plate for Wade Smith of the Kinkora O'Shea's 
Pub and Eatery Hitmen has earned him the Source for Sports/Alberton Sports 
'Player of the Week' for the final regular season period, Sept. 19-23.

Smith went 13-18 in the Hitmen's last six games, all in a span of four days 
against three different teams. Out of those six games, four were wins for 
the Hitmen.

The former Summerside Western Capitals assistant coach went 5-7 in a double 
header with St. Louis on Sunday; 2-3 in Game one Monday (a 2-1 loss) to the 
Summerside Twins; 3-5 in game two, an 8-1 win; and 2-2 with two RBI and a 
run scored in game one Wednesday against the Alberton A's and 1-1 with the 
game winning run in the bottom of the first in a shortened game two.

Smith's totals for the week include five runs scored, four RBI, 12 singles 
and one double.

On the season, Smith batted .444 in 27 plate appearances with 12 hits, 
seven runs scored, no home runs and eight RBI and six walks.

Others considered this week included a trio of St. Louis Storm, two Hitmen 
and and an Athletic.

The list includes (starting with St. Louis) Curtis Reilly (3-7, four runs 
scored, triple, two singles, three RBI), Brian Greenan (3-5, two triples, 
two runs scored, five RBI), Jamie Betts (3-6, pitching win, three singles, 
two runs scored, two RBI);Kinkora's Pat McIver (5-13, five singles, two 
runs scored, RBI) and Peter McCardle (5-13, home run, two doubles, two 
singles, three runs scored, three RBI) and Alberton's Kyle Fraser (3-7, 
three singles, run scored, RBI, three stolen bases).
