flawless defensive effort led by ss Lenna Panou, C Vanessa Chaborek, and OF
Kathy Glen; and timely hitting by the Lords led by Karen McWilliams, Kristy
Kelly, Lenna Panou and Jessica Smolders the Lords went a perfect 3-0 at the
Championships to capture the OCAA Championship. It is the Lords record 12th
OCAA Women's Fastball Championship title. It is the 6th time the Lords have
completed a a perfect season! Other years were: 2003, 2000, 1998, 1994,
1991. For DC the 3 wins push their amazing undefeated win streak to to 42
games in a row. (the streak began the 2nd game of the 2002 season). For
Head Coach Jim Nemish it is his 9th OCAA Championship Gold Medal in the 16
years he has led the program. That combined with 5 Silver medals and 1
Bronze medal makes 15 Championship medals won under Nemish. The OCAA's
all-time winingest coach now possess a career college W-L record of
245W-57L. (an amazing winnning percentage of .811) His all-time conference
W-L record is an absolutely unheard of 167W-15L (winning percentage of
.918!!!) The Women's program led by Nemish, Assistant Coach Mal Swift and
Assistant Coach Rosemary Theriault is simply the benchmakr program for
success! Durham College is the pinnacle of Women's fastball in the country.

Game 3 Saturday, October 23rd @ Seneca College
GOLD MEDAL CHMAPIONSHIP GAME
DURHAM 11 SENECA 0 (Erin Smith tosses perfect game!!)
* The Lords rolled to a big 11-0 victory in the gold medal game after
jumping Sting starting pitcher Stephanie Ozog for 4 runs in the first
inning. The biggest story of the final was Erin Smith closing the book on
her remarkable College fastball career, by pitching a PERFECT GAME! What a
story book ending. For Smith it was her 42nd career win (42-2, #1 all-time
at DC and the OCAA..She ends up 30-0 in conference play!!) The Sting were
faced with the task of having to beat DC twice to capture Gold against the
undefeated Lords. DC was not interested in playing another game and
proceeded to route the Sting in this gold medal game. A big grandslam
homerun by Jessica Smolders in the 3rd inning was the clincher for DC as
they went up 8-0. It was over for Seneca. Big bats of McWilliams, Kelly
and Smith led the way offensively for DC as they cruised to their 3rd
consecutive OCAA Championship Gold Medal! The game ended after the 5th
inning under OCAA mercy rule regulations. It marks the 6th perfect season
recorded by the DC Women's Fastball program and 12th OCAA Title in Women's
Fastball. Win streak moves to 42 straight! Unbelievable! (Final
collegiate games for seniors Erin Smith and 3B Terina West)
