Rain sees play called off on day two of Doreen Dalton tournament
Sunday October 24th
Consistent rain has left playing conditions impossible on day two of the
Doreen Dalton premier one men's softball tournament at Fraser Park, in
Lower Hutt today.
Only one game was completed today with Northcote picking up a 9-2 win over
Hutt Valley Dodgers, the North Harbour based side took the win in five innings.
Northcote were dominant with the bat picking up two runs in the first
inning, a further three in the third and another four in the fourth inning
to close out the game.
New Zealand Community Trust Black Sox player Brad Rona was a star with the
bat, from three trips to the plate he picked up two hits and one RBI.
One other game was started today between the unbeaten Wairarapa Giants and
Poneke Kilbirnie. When consistent rain saw play stopped in the bottom of
the fourth inning PK held a 5-1 advantage. The game will be completed
tomorrow morning.
With bad weather seeing the cancellation of all further play today the
tournament will come down to one marathon day of softball tomorrow with
games to start at 8am. With eight sides still in contention for the title
there will be two rounds of games tomorrow morning before the semi finals
at 12pm and the final at 2pm.
