Fargo lays the Boom on Jarvis at ISC

Worlds; secure first in pool

EAU CLAIRE, WIS. - Jeff Ellsworth continued his hot hitting while 
getting some help from another hot hitter in Chad Boom as the Fargo, 
N.D. Kegel Black Knights secured first place in Pool C with a 5-0 
blanking of Jarvis, Ont. Merchants Tuesday morning.

Ellsworth was 2-for-3 with a run scored, hit a leadoff triple to open 
the game and an RBI, while also being walked to load the bases.

But above Ellsworth's accomplishment was that of home run power 
hitter Chad Boom, who smacked a solo home run in the third inning 
while driving in another run later to end the game with two RBI and 
two runs scored.

In three games to date, the Alberton recreation director is having a 
phenomenal Worlds hitting 7-9 with three home runs, nine RBI and five 
runs scored.

Other top batters were Eric Lewis (1-1, RBI) Bjay Boom (1-3), Peter 
Reimer (1-4 run scored) and Nathan Geisbrecht (1-3).

For Jarvis, Ont., Tax Lessard (1-3), Adam Smith (1-3), and Brad 
Robinson (1-3) led the way.

Winning pitcher Steve Langley went the distance allowing five hits, a 
walk and striking out 11 batters. Losing pitcher Andrew Phibbs went 
four innings giving up five runs on seven hits, walking three and 
fanning six.Scott Wagnar pitched three innings in relief, allowing 
two hits, a walk and striking out three.

The Knights will try to end the round robin portion with a perfect 
4-0 record when they face winless Guaranteed Air Freight of Vandalia, 
Il., who were beaten handedly by Jarvis Monday night 10-0, in an 8 
a.m. CST (10 p.m. Atlantic) game Wednesday morning.
