Laramie,Wyoming.

Al,
We would like to announce the Rocky Mountain Wood Bat Classic to
held September 24,25 in Laramie,Wyoming.
There is a 3 game guarantee with a $200 entry fee. There will be
no aluminum bats allowed.
The following teams have committed to play:
                   1. Kings Salt Lake City,Utah
                   2. Cedar Ridge Vernal,Utah
                   3. Farmington Natives Farmington,New Mexico
                   4. Warriors Fort Collins,Colorado
                   5. Brown and Gold Laramie,Wyoming
                   6. Fremont Motors Rawlins,Wyoming
                   7. Rebels Rock Springs,Wyoming

This is the first event to be sponsored by the Rocky Mountain
Woodbat Association.
The Associations title speaks for itself, we will be playing with
wooden bats,a Diamond D-100 Ball, and the official strike zone of the
armpits to the knees.
If you come to play, you will not see the ridiculous belt down to
somewhere below the knees that some umpires associations have forced
down the throat of the mens fastpitch game. All umpires that have
agreed to come and enjoy a weekend of fastpitch have agreed to call
the game in the manner that we have asked.
The reason for this association is the culmination of a series of
events over the past 3 years that convinced us that the fastpitch
associations have dropped the ball on the safety of their players.
The list of pitchers that have taken serious injuries from balls is
growing every weekend. We have decided that we are not going to
stand by until someone dies to make a change.
We are tired of seeing our friends and acquaintances getting hit
in the face with line drives off of "Legal" Bats.
I was of the opinion several years ago on the Blue Ribbon panel
of the ISC, that we could control the speed of the game with the
ball. I Was Wrong...
By controlling the speed of the game with the bat and allowing
the strike zone to be elevated to where it should be...should help
bring more pitchers into the game.

If you are interested in playing in the Wood Bat Classic or in
future tournaments or Travel Leagues in the Rockies,Feel free to give
me a call at 303-475-8142. You may also reach Marty Mckinney about
the Wood Bat Classic at 307-742-0551
