The Owen Sound Selects Fastball organization will be heading to Montreal 
this weekend to be inducted into the Canadian Amateur Softball Hall of Fame.

Long time Selects President Bill Simpson relates the induction is both 
humbling and gratifying.

Simpson says the induction is a great reward to a group of hard working 
volunteers who established and maintained a highly competitive team in Owen 
Sound for decades.

Through the years, the Owen Sound club has been known as " King Farms ", 
the " Canadian Tiremen " and finally the Selects.

While Owen Sound has enjoyed success under each moniker, the Selects 
specifically are being honored for winning the Canadian Championship on 3 
occasions.

The Selects won the 2000 Championship at Saskatoon, the 2002 Championship 
at Winnipeg and then defended the title winning the 2003 Canadian 
Championship at Duncan McLellan Park in Owen Sound.

Ironically, the 2003 Championship was the final appearance by the Selects 
as the team folded before the 2004 fastball season and has not returned.

Simpson hinted an I.S.C, team may be operated out of Owen Sound in 2006, 
but admits he would not be a part of that organization.
