USA Softball Beats Nicaragua 14-0 to remain unbeaten at Pan Am Qualifier

GUATEMALA CITY, GUATEMALA – USA Softball heads into playoff action tomorrow 
at the Pan Am Qualifier with a record of 6-0 after shutting out Nicaragua 
14-0 today in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Team USA has allowed only one run 
in six games, outscoring its opponent 69-1.

Everyone in the starting lineup had at least one hit with Tairia Mims 
Flowers (Tucson, Ariz.) leading the way. Flowers hit a home run, going 2-2, 
with three RBI. Jaime Clark (Tustin, Calif.) was 2-2 with two RBI and Vicky 
Galindo (Union City, Calif.) finished with three hits in four at bats and 
one RBI. The team turned in 11 hits while leaving two on base.

Alicia Hollowell (Suisun, Calif.) started on the mound and struck out eight 
of nine batters faced in three innings. Amanda Freed (Cypress, Calif.) 
pitched the final two innings giving up two hits but with stellar defense 
the USA turned a double play and an out at home plate kept the shutout intact.

Team USA will face Colombia tomorrow at 7 pm in the first round of the 
playoffs.
