Top four found at men's NPC

With two days of play completed in the New Zealand Community Trust Men's 
National Provincial Cup at Colquhoun Park, Palmerston North only two teams 
can boast a perfect record.

With round robin play in the tournament completed Canterbury have finished 
at the top of pool A with an unbeaten record while Hutt Valley Development 
lead pool B and are yet to taste defeat.

Canterbury secured their top placing in pool A with a 3-1 victory today 
over the previously unbeaten Hutt Valley. In the tight match up Canterbury 
were always in front after scoring early. Lewis Acker controlled the game 
on the mound for Canterbury while Kango Teiru handled the pitching duties 
for Hutt Valley.

Hutt Valley Development maintained their unbeaten run today but they were 
tested all the way. They opened the day with a narrow 2-1 victory over 
Auckland and then defeated Otago 6-5 in a tie breaker.

With round robin play completed the top four sides will now move on to play 
a round robin series tomorrow ahead of the finals on Tuesday. Through to 
the top four from pool A are Canterbury and Hutt Valley while Hutt Valley 
Development and the defending champions Wellington go through from pool B.

1, Hutt Valley 3 Hawkes Bay 0, Wellington 25 Rotorua 2, Hutt Valley 
Development 6 Otago 5, Canterbury 3 Hutt Valley 1, Auckland 7 Rotorua 0, 
Hawkes Bay 17 Nelson 2, Wellington 5 Otago 3.
