On Saturday, January 7, 2006 the Oshawa City and District Fastball League 
commenced its' 80th year of operation with its' Annual General Meeting for 
2006.



It was very bad weather and several teams were unable to attend the 
meeting, but several accomplishments were made.



 From the President's Report, a special presentation was made to retiring 
umpire Don Bracey for over 25 years of officiating in the OCDFL, Ontario, 
Canada and International Championship Tournaments.  Don is a Level V umpire 
who has called many big games and has been a member of the Durham Region 
Umpires Membership ( D.R.U.M. ) for many years. We will still see Don this 
summer as he evaluates future umpires for Provincial and Canadian 
Championships.



Election of Officers was performed and the present Executive was 
unanimously returned to their current positions:



1. President                  Jim Spiers

2. 1st  Vice President   John Sharpe

3. 2nd Vice President   Mal Swift

4. 3rd Vice President    Scott Goff

5. Secretary/Treasurer Sylvia Ryan

6. Past President          Ken Leonard



New Membership was awarded to the Newmarket Stingers ( Midget ) after their 
presentation for inclusion. This team's head  coach is Glenn Ford, who 
played 10 years for the Canadian National Team.



Returning teams for 2006 include Aurora Shoeless Joe's, Bradford Sox, Lake 
Simcoe Lightning, Markham Majors, Newmarket Mudhens, Oshawa Double B 
Juniors, Oshawa Ravens, Port Perry Lumberjacks, Scarborough Wolverines and 
Toronto Champion Indians.

Possibly returning are the Cobourg Diamond Kings, Stouffville Mennos, 
Claremont Rebels and the Oshawa Double B Midgets.  Not operating this year 
are Stouffville Jones Pools (Jr.), Bramalea Indians (Mdgt.) and Durham 
Eagles (Int.).



While we expect the number of teams in the OCDFL will be reduced this year, 
the final numbers will not be known until the the League Affiliation 
Meeting on March 4, 2006.
