Top eight found in tight race at men’s club nationals
Friday March 24th 2006

The race to make the top eight at the New Zealand Community Trust
Men’s National Club Championships at Akina Park, Hastings has
gone right down to the wire this afternoon.

Round robin play for the 24 teams in the tournament finished
this afternoon with only the top eight teams to go through to
the title race starting this evening while the remaining sides
are left to battle it out for places nine through to 24.

Qualifying for the top eight are defending champions Mt Albert
Ramblers, Parklands Christchurch United, Metro, Miramar, Hutt
City United, Rotorua Magic, Northcote and Richmond Keas.

It was a tight race for some teams to qualify in the top eight
with last years runners up Miramar having to rely on two wins
this morning to qualify while also winning their way through
to the top eight with a win today was Richmond Keas.

With the top eight found the race for the title will get even
tighter as the playoffs are underway now and will go through
to 7pm tonight. The top eight teams will play a round robin series
today and tomorrow as they compete for a place in the final on
Sunday.
